Speaker 1:

One of the strongest arguments for the validity of orthodoxy that is rarely discussed is that for the entirety of the Christian era, no matter where in the world, Christianity has looked like this it's liturgical. There's incense use, priests, deacons, there were investments. The Eucharist is the body and blood of Christ Jesus. There's a preparation for communion. There's catechumens, those that are not yet fully members. There's a closed Eucharist table Not anyone can partake. There are vespers and matin services, special formal prayer services. Confession is a sacrament. Holy unction is a sacrament. Marriage is a sacrament, the use and veneration of icons, Patron saints asking the saints for their prayers. There's a church calendar. There's periods of feasts and fasts, Prayer rules, prayer books are used. The church is held as authoritative Councils are authoritative Not the scriptures alone, but scripture as part of the collected traditions preserved by the living church. This is orthodoxy. From the ancient traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Eritreans, to the Coptics, to the Armenian Orthodox, to the far-flung Eastern Orthodox.

Speaker 1:

Around the world, Orthodoxy has always been, without fail, bound together by their faith and practice. No matter the language barriers, the vast demographic distinctions, the people, the time or place, they have held the same faith and practice. By contrast, from the time the Protestant Reformation was in its infancy, there were significant and substantive differences of interpretation leading to differences of practices, leading to different denominations, which led to more differences and more denominations, to the point where now Protestantism barely means anything anymore because the myriad different groups and practices are so radically different from one another. Don't believe me? Just compare a Reformed Presbyterian to a charismatic four-square Pentecostal. And yet both are equally labeled Protestants. Come Find an Orthodox church near you today.
